Honeycomb Bread

Jun 18, 2024

After trying them for the first time at Qahwah House, a Yemeni coffee shop, the other day, I knew that I needed to try my hand at making them myself. Khaliat al Nahl (Honeycomb bread), is a traditional Yemeni pastry consisting of soft pull apart bread rolls filled with kiri cheese or cream cheese and drizzled with honey or a sugar syrup.

I followed this recipe. In lieu of drizzling the finished rolls with plain honey, I made a simple sugar syrup with honey and a bit of orange blossom water added to it.

They turned out incredibly well, super soft, and delicious. It had just the right amount of sweetness and was simply divine. Dare I say better than what I had before, but then again everything is always better homemade.
